A Journey of Artistic Discovery Across Europe
Børge Furnes
Børge Furnes is a composer, performer and multimedia artist based in Oslo. He has studied with Daniel Peter Biro (Bergen), Asbjørn Schaatun (Oslo), Daniel Ott and Manolis Vlitakis (Berlin). Furnes has participated in ERASMUS Blended intensive program BAIL at LAB University of applied sciences (Lahti, 2024), Nordplus IP LIVE SPACE 2025 (Vilnius, 2025), the Munich Biennale as an observer participating in "Denkwerkstatts" with composers and fellow students (Munich, 2026), composition resorts in Sauen, Brandenburg (Berlin 2025-2026) and contributed to arranging the Sonisk Hage Festival in 2024.
The conceptual nature of his works stand as a guiding line in his creative process, choosing the medium that suits best to communicate his ideas. He has written for various ensembles put together by himself and others, writing for chamber music, Trio Primavera (Lithuania), music theatre, live electronics, video, dance (also as a performer), songwriting and performance pieces, often using his own voice/body as an object for critique. Subjects incorporated in these works over the last few years include environmentalism, social critique, critical reflections on being a white male and exploring hierarchies. Common for his works is to not give the audience an answer, but rather a space in which they are encouraged to reflect.
Supported by the ULYSSES Platform, Børge took part as a curator in Ultima's In Situ: City -- Music Pavilion in 2025.
