A Journey of Artistic Discovery Across Europe
Clémence MARTEL
Clémence Martel lives and works between Tuscany and Paris. She is a soprano and performer working at the intersection of vocal practice, performance, and audiovisual forms. After training in flute and classical singing in France, the Netherlands, and Switzerland, she specialized in contemporary music at the Neue Musik Studio of the HMDK Stuttgart.
Clémence Martel’s practice sits at the intersection of vocal performance and audiovisual installation. Her work begins with the voice and the body, engaging with themes of organicity, technomorphism, and intimacy, and shaping a world in which the living speaks, reveals itself, and transforms. Her devices extend the voice, put it into play, expose it, and redirect listening toward what usually goes unheard.
Her work has been recognized with the Contemporary Music Prize of the City of Fribourg. She presents her projects in international institutions and festivals including Centre Pompidou (Paris), ZKM (Karlsruhe), Echoraum (Vienna), Fabbrica del Vapore (Milan), Tempo Reale (Florence), Teatro del Suono Festival (Trieste), Mixtur Festival (Barcelona)....
She was also selected for the mentorship program of the French national network for contemporary music creation Futurs Composés. Since 2022, she has been a member of the Cantiere Zero collective (Vienna) and collaborates regularly with ensembles and artistic structures across Europe.
She is one of the founding members of Fonosfera.
In 2025, Clémence took part in Mixtur Festival's Voice Workshop as part of her ULYSSES Journey.
