Eden Lonsdale is a British/German composer.

His music focuses on exploring the various ways that movement and stasis can co-exist, as well as the inter-connectedness of harmony, timbre and melody. Often using very limited materials, his dense and immersive sound-worlds attempt to draw the ear into the smallest details and hope to inspire the listener’s self-guided exploration into the music’s manifold layers.

He has written concert music for and with soloists such as Satoko Inoue, Toby Hughes, Anton Lukoszevieze and Heather Roche as well as ensembles including EXAUDI, Apartment House, Riot Ensemble, ICTUS, Ensemble Linea, Oerknal, Ensemble Intercontemporain and Plusminus Ensemble. His orchestral works have been performed by the Berlin Radio-Symphony Orchestra, the London Symphony Orchestra, Lucerne Festival Contemporary Orchestra and BBC Symphony Orchestra.

Recent works have been broadcast on BBC’s Radio 3 ‘The New Music Show’ and ‘Night Tracks’ as well as Radio 6’s ‘The Freak Zone’ and various international stations and in 2023 his debut album ‘Clear and Hazy Moons’ was released by the experimental label anothertimbre. It was met with some acclaim, Boomkat calling it ‘one of the most startling releases we’ve heard from anothertimbre in ages’ and ‘an essential listening experience, one that demands your full attention’.

Eden studied Composition at the Guildhall School of Music in London, with Malcolm Singer, Cassandra Miller and Julian Anderson as well as at the Kunstuniversität Graz with Klaus Lang.

Supported by the ULYSSES Platform, Eden was selected to part in the composition workshop and subsequent concert in the context of Jazeps Vītols Latvian Music Academy's contemporary Music festival "deciBels" 2026.
