Lars Tuchel is a musician and coder from Switzerland currently residing in Austria. In works ranging from electroacoustic composition and live coding performance to net-art projects and pieces for live electronics, Lars investigates complex networks between audiences, performers and technology, exploring new ways of interacting with both physical and imagined acoustic environments while asking how these worlds might be shaped collectively. This approach is informed by a professional education in software development, prior studies in philosophy and a BA in Sound Arts at Hochschule der Künste Bern (Switzerland), as well as by his current studies in the MA Computer Musik at Kunst Universität Graz (Austria). Lars is active as an organiser and performer in concert venues and independent clubs across Europe, including appearances at Elevate Festival, Reggio Parma Festival, Soundcinema Festival Düsseldorf, Schallwende – Festival für Neue Musik and Musikfestival Bern, with projects throughout which a single underlying question emerges: how sonic and computational practices might open up forms of interaction with technology that are collective rather than merely operational - a question he intends to keep asking, on the assumption that the computers are not going to ask it themselves.

Supported by the ULYSSES Platform, Lars participated as a composer in the Speculative Sound Synthesis workshop as part of his ULYSSES Journey.
