A Journey of Artistic Discovery Across Europe
Li-Ting Tai
Taiwanese pianist Li-Ting Tai began studying piano at the age of five. She completed her bachelor’s degree at Tainan National University of the Arts, where she studied with the Russian pianist and composer Mikhail Kollontay, and later completed her master’s degree at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Hamburg, where she studied with Mauro lo Conte. She has attended masterclasses with An Ning, Alexander Kobrin, Igor Tchetuev, Grigory Gruzman, Eteri Andjaparidze and Susanne Grützmann, among others. She is currently continuing her studies in the Konzertexamen program at the Musikhochschule Münster with Prof. Clemens Rave. During her studies, she developed a strong interest in contemporary music which has since become a central focus of her artistic work. She has been involved in various new music projects, including participation in the Cresc. Biennale für aktuelle Musik Frankfurt Rhein Main – Schwärmen 2026 and KLANGZEIT WERKSTATT 2024: FIRST CHOICE, a collaborative project of the Münster University of Music and the Society for New Music Münster e.V..
From 2018 to 2019, she worked as a keyboard assistant at Stage an der Elbe in Hamburg. Her awards include the Young Pianist Special Award at the International Piano Competition Città di Barletta, the Yehudi Menuhin Live Music Now Hamburg scholarship, and the Steinway Förderpreis Münster.
Supported by the ULYSSES Platform, Li-Ting Tai is currently a member of the International Ensemble Modern Akademie (IEMA) 2025/2026 and a Fellow of the Kunststiftung NRW. Through this collaboration, she rehearses and performs alongside musicians of Ensemble Modern and has worked with conductors including Stefan Asbury and Lucie Leguay.
