Ling Zhang
Ling Zhang is a Chinese percussionist based in Germany.
From 2017 to 2021, he studied with Prof. Ulrike Stadler at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Graz, Austria for his Bachelor's degree, and later earned his Master’s degree at the Musikhochschule Lübeck, where he continues postgraduate studies with Prof. Johannes Fischer.
Ling's repertoire spans a wide range of genres, from jazz to experimental contemporary concepts. He has played with groups such as Ensemble Modern, Ensemble Recherche, the Duisburg Philharmonic Orchestra, Studio Musikfabrik etc., and has performed at numerous music festivals and contemporary art festivals, including the Kammermusikfest Lockenhaus in Austria, the Eigenzeit Festival for contemporary music in Duisburg, the Darmstadt Summer Courses, the Frequenz Festival for sound art in Kiel, and the PGVIS - International Symposium on Music and Interdisciplinary Studies in Bangkok, Thailand etc.. He enjoys collaborating and improvising with musicians and artists across various forms and disciplines.
Supported by the ULYSSES Platform, Ling was a member of the IEMA Ensemble 2024/25, performing at both impuls and Gaudeamus in 2025.
