Mariacostanza D’Agostino began studying music at the age of 5, starting with the piano. She graduated with honours in Piano and Chamber Music from the Conservatory ‘G. Paisiello’ in Taranto, Italy, her hometown. She furthered her studies at the Academy ‘Incontri col Maestro’ in Imola. Alongside her instrumental studies, she studied composition, first with Marco Di Bari, then with Giorgio Colombo Taccani and Mauro Montalbetti, actively participating in various festivals and events dedicated to contemporary music.

She began studying orchestral conducting with Marco Boni in 2021. In the following year, she was admitted to the Master's programme in Ensemble Conducting in Marc Kissoczy's class at the Conservatorio della Svizzera italiana in Lugano, Switzerland. In 2024, she completed her Master's with top marks and honours. She has participated as an active student in numerous international masterclasses, such as the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester, UK, and served as Assistant Conductor during the BerlinOpernFest 2023. She made her debut with the Karlovy Vary Symphony Orchestra (2023), the Hradec Králové Symphony Orchestra (2024) and the OSI – Orchestra della Svizzera Italiana (2025). Among others, she studied with Marco Angius and Carlo Boccadoro. 


She is very active in the field of contemporary music: she conducted a musical theatre production (Frammenti infernali) at the Ravenna Festival 2022,  Divertimento Ensemble, AltreVoci Ensemble and Youth Orchestra Fontane di Roma with the actor Stefano Poeta (Histoire du soldat). 

As a repetiteur, she has worked in theatre on various opera productions with the ICO Orchestra of Magna Grecia and at the Teatro Politeama Greco in Lecce, and in 2022 she completed her training at the Opera School of the Teatro Comunale in Bologna. 

She was also the winner of the ‘Best Graduates 2016’ award presented by the Rotary Club of Taranto. Moreover, the Soroptimist Club of Lugano awarded her a scholarship to support young women awarded in September 2023 and May 2025.

In her projects, she seeks a broad musical vision, drawing on the various aspects of her training.

Supported by the ULYSSES Platform, Mariacostanza D'Agostina is a conductor in the International Ensemble Modern Akademie (IEMA) 2025/2026.
