Paula Soriano Ibáñez
Paula Soriano Ibáñez is a Spanish saxophonist deeply engaged in the exploration and performance of contemporary music, with a special interest in chamber music, free improvisation, art performance, and interdisciplinary projects. She completed her bachelor’s degree in 2024 at the Conservatorio Superior de Música de Aragón (CSMA), where she studied with Professor Andrés Gomis, and is currently pursuing a master’s degree in contemporary music at Hochschule Luzern under the guidance of Professor Sascha Armbruster.
Paula is involved in new music projects and is especially interested in the creation of new repertoire and collaborative work with composers. She participates in different chamber groups and is a member of the Lucerne Improvisers Orchestra (LUIO). Her activities include world premieres of pieces by composers such as Carmen Fizzarotti (with the ULYSSES Ensemble) and Alejandro Álvarez (at the XIX World Saxophone Congress), among others. She has also had the opportunity to participate in the Swiss premiere of Mahãbhãrata and the German premiere of Ottetto, both composed by Riccardo Nova.
She has worked with and received advice from composers and performers such as Alberto Posadas, Marcos Balter, Georges Aperghis, Nadir Vassena, Francesca Verunelli, Jessie Marino, Kevin Juillerat, Charlotte Hug, Alexandre Babel, Patrick Stadler, Marcus Weiss, and Marie-Bernadette Charrier. Paula has also attended festivals including the Academy for Contemporary Music HSLU, Translocal Performance Art Giswil, Lucerne Festival, Donaueschinger Musiktage, ManiFeste25, and Darmstädter Ferienkurse.
Paula was a member of the ULYSSES Ensemble 2025.
