A Journey of Artistic Discovery Across Europe
Sebastian Zaczek
Sebastian Zaczek began playing the piano at the age of seven, and soon after the first attempts at composition followed. He received piano lessons from Mihai Zaharescu.
Sebastian holds a bachelor's degree in computer science and is now studying composition at the HfMT Hamburg under Prof. Gordon Kampe. He won multiple awards at the Bundeswettbewerb Jugend Komponiert, and in 2024 this was followed by a scholarship of the project „NEUES ZEUG – Musik aus dem Jetzt für junge Entdecker*innen“ (“Music from the Now for young adventurers”). He received a second prize at the Gustav Mahler Composition Prize 2024 for the vocal quartet “Schluss”, as well as commissions for the Musik21Festival „Übergänge“ and Hamburg Contemporary 2025.
For the past few years, he has also been active as a juror and a transcriber in the team of Score Follower, an organization that promotes wide access to new music online.
Sebastian took part in HfMT's Akademie Kontemporär in 2025, supported by the ULYSSES Platform.
