OPEN CALL for COMPOSERS 

.abeceda [New Music Academy] II.

A program for composers to develop and present new or existing works for string quartet. Participants compose a new piece, refine it through online workshops, rehearse with the quartet, and present it at Cankarjev dom, Ljubljana, Slovenia.

FORMAT:

Stage I. [Online Preparation]

• – 4 Online Sessions: 9, 16, 23, 30, 2026
• – Presentations by participating composers
• – Open discussions with quartet members
• – Score reading, development and preparation for rehearsals
   

Stage II. [Rehearsals in Ljubljana, Slovenia]

• – 4-Day Intensive Rehearsal Period: May 5–8, 2026
• – Rehearsals with .abeceda [String Quartet]
• – Finalization of newly composed works
   

Stage III. [Performance in Cankarjev dom, Ljubljana]

• – Performances of participants’ compositions at Cankarjev dom, Duša Počkaj Hall, Ljubljana: May 8, 2026
• – Professional audio and video documentation of performances
