A Journey of Artistic Discovery Across Europe
CALL FOR COMPOSERS 2025–2026 “NARRAZIONI PARALLELE IN DIALOGUE”
Narrazioni Parallele
Narrazioni Parallele is a three-year project promoted by the City of Turin and funded through the call “Torino, che cultura!”.
It was created to respond to the artistic need for experimentation and to foster dialogue between emerging young talents in the contemporary composition scene and the musical institutions of the City of Turin.
Over the past two years, this invitation to experiment has taken shape through a series of calls for composers.
The first call, whose selection committee was chaired by Davide Boosta Dileo, concluded in the first half of 2025:
three musicians, Chiara Rinciari, Giovanni Bortoletto and Massimiliano Vizzini, developed projects of parallel narratives of contemporaneity through their scores, working with voices, instruments, and artists such as Ljuba Bergamelli, Sabrina Oggero Viale, the musicians of the Filarmonica Teatro Regio Torino, and the choristers of the Accademia Corale Stefano Tempia.
This call is addressed to composers under the age of 35 who wish to express a dialogue between different elements of today’s socio-cultural context, reflecting on what the various voices of modernity are and how they interact—namely, parallel narratives that may converse and meet within the compositional fabric of a piece developed during an artistic residency in Turin.
Following the selection, a workshop-based process is planned with the support of a team of musicians chaired by Stefano Bassanese, composer and Professor of Electroacoustic Composition at the Conservatory of Turin and co-founder of the Luigi Nono Archive Foundation in Venice.
This process will allow the selected composer to work on their composition from multidisciplinary perspectives in a laboratory format, during an artistic residency in a space in the City of Turin: from instrumental interpretation to the technical analysis of musical writing, the composer will be supported through to the presentation of their work on the stage of Teatro Juvarra in Turin.
THE CALL
Lucas, Filarmonica TRT, and the Accademia Corale Stefano Tempia announce a Call for Composers dedicated to young composers under 35 (i.e., who will not have turned 35 by 18/12/2025) for the Parallel Narratives project. The call is open to applicants of any nationality.
The Parallel Narratives in Dialogue Call for Composers aims to select and promote young talents in the field of contemporary composition.
The selected artist will be asked to create an original work that integrates different musical languages, with particular attention to the fusion of voice, string quartet, and electronics.
The composition must interpret the theme of dialogue, connecting narratives that are often parallel and do not intersect, and creating synesthetic bridges between the elements.
The winning composer, together with a string quartet from Filarmonica TRT, will be able to perform the composed work during the artistic residency at the Converging Concert of Contemporary Narration, in its second edition:
late October 2026 (Teatro Juvarra, Turin).
Also performing on stage will be Davide Boosta Dileo, Stefano Bassanese, the Filarmonica TRT string quartet, and the voices of the Consort Tempia.
THE JURY
The panel evaluating the submissions will consist of:
- Davide “Boosta” Dileo (composer and eclectic performer)
- Stefano Bassanese (composer and Professor of Electroacoustic Composition, Conservatory of Turin)
- Paola Perardi (Cellist, Filarmonica TRT)
- Luigi Cociglio (composer and Artistic Director, Accademia Corale Stefano Tempia)
HOW TO APPLY
The “Parallel Narratives in Dialogue” Call for Composers is free of charge and open to applicants under 35 (i.e., who will not have turned 35 by 18/12/2025).
To apply, candidates must submit a minimum of two and a maximum of three scores selected from their portfolio (optionally accompanied by audio recordings) that are representative of their artistic path, along with a curriculum vitae and a copy of an identity document.
The selected composer must prepare, by mid-June 2026, preparatory materials in view of the creation of a new, original, and unpublished score with a total duration of between 15 and 20 minutes for soprano, string quartet, and electronics. This score, together with multimodal/multimedia content, will be developed during the artistic residency scheduled in Turin in July 2026.
The final score must be submitted by 15 September 2026.
The composer will be provided with the technologies required for computer-based realization in a Max environment, as well as sound recording and diffusion with a quadraphonic amplification system. Any additional devices will be the responsibility of the selected artist.

AWARDS
The selected composer will take part in a three-day workshop-based residency, approximately between 13 and 17 July 2026 in Turin, supported by the project tutors and guided toward the realization of the composition together with the instrumentalists of the Filarmonica TRT orchestra.
The selected author will receive a fee of €2,000* (all-inclusive, covering fees and any travel and accommodation expenses) for the composition and live performance of the proposed electronic music.
