Lá nas Árvores, a project included in Évora27 – European Capital of Culture, is pleased to announce an open call for music submissions for its second cycle, Levantar Voo (Take off), which will take place from 9 to 12 April 2026 in Évora, Portugal.
Lá nas Árvores is coorganized by the University of Évora, Projecto DME and Lisboa Incomum, under the artistic direction of Professor and Pianist Ana Telles.
This call is open to composers and sound artists of all nationalities and ages.
There is no submission fee.
Selected works may be presented in the sound installation during the festival, in the acousmatic concert on 12 April 2026, or in both contexts. Each applicant may submit one work to the installation category, one work to the concert category, or the same work to both categories. A maximum of one work per category is allowed per participant.
All submitted works must be related to the theme of soundscape, with a particular focus on aerial soundscape.
Projecto DME and Lisboa Incomum will conceive the sound systems for the sound installation and the acousmatic concert.
The deadline for submissions is February 13th, 2026, at 11:59 PM (UTC+0). The selected works will be announced on March 19th, 2026.
Submission Guidelines
1. Sound Installation
Sound art, electroacoustic or acousmatic pieces with a maximum duration of 10 minutes.
Channel requirements: Up to 4 channels (square layout).
Audio format: Files must be in .AIF or .WAV format.
2. Acousmatic Concert
Acousmatic music pieces with a maximum duration of 10 minutes.
Channel requirements: Up to 8 channels.
Submissions should include:
- Individual mono files for each channel.
- Stereo version
- An additional channel for sub-bass can also be included.
Audio format: Files must be in .AIF or .WAV format.
Works submitted must not exceed 10 minutes in length.
Works exceeding these time limits will not be considered.
Conditions
The organization cannot cover any expenses, such as travel, accommodation, or meal expenses.
Jury
The jury is composed of professor and pianist Ana Telles, president of the jury, and professors and composers Jaime Reis and Mariana Vieira, responsible for curating the sound installation and the acousmatic concert.
