"MIXTES" is a new international competition for composition of music with electronics organized by the Conservatoire de Nice, the Université Côte d'Azur, the Opéra de Nice, Studio Instrumental and the Ensemble Métis.
It is open to composers under 40, of all nationalities, for works composed after 2015.
It aims to encourage creations combining acoustic instruments and electroacoustic devices.
Each applicant may send several works.
It provides 3 categories:
Category 1 – works for ensembles of 8 to 20 musicians and electronics, reward 1200€
Any formation of instruments from the nomenclature: 1.1+eh.1.1 / 1.1.1+bass / perc/ 4.3.2.2.1
Category 2 – works for ensemble up to 5 musicians and electronics, reward 800€
Only instruments from the list: hautbois (oboe d'amore and English horn possible), saxophone (sopranino, soprano, alto tenor baritone possible), piano (+ electronic keyboard possible), violin, percussion
Category 3 – educational works for 1 musician and electronics, reward 600€
Available instruments: flute, oboe, clarinet, trumpet, trombone, harp, piano, vibraphone, marimba, timpani, violin, viola, cello, double bass, recorder
The electroacoustic part can be played from audio files, or triggered in real time from a pedal.

Calendar: New deadline for applications: April 30th, 2026
Jury of the finalists at the end of June 2026
The winning works will be played during November 2026 at the Pierre Cochereau Conservatory in Nice.
