CALL FOR SCORES  - COMPOSITION RESIDENCY WITH PROMETEO QUARTET (ITALY)
Ragazze e Ragazzi. Salvemini 1990 – 6° EDITION

Fondazione Rocca dei Bentivoglio (Italy) invites young composers worldwide to apply for a composition residency with the Prometeo String Quartet.

Three composers will be selected to participate in a 5-day residency in Valsamoggia (Bologna, Italy) from 8 to 12 June 2026. During the residency, composers will work directly with Prometeo Quartet through rehearsal sessions, reading sessions and individual feedback meetings.
The residency will culminate in a public concert featuring the world premiere performances of the selected works, presented within the 40th edition of the music festival “Corti, Chiese e Cortili”.

The project is dedicated to the memory of the students who lost their lives in the Salvemini Institute tragedy (1990) and promotes artistic reflection through contemporary music creation.

ELIGIBILITY

The call is open to composers of any nationality aged 18 or older by the start of the residency. Previous applicants may reapply.

SELECTION

Applications will be evaluated by an international jury:

Enrico Bernardi – artistic director of “Corti, Chiese e Cortili”
Paolo Aralla – composer
Prometeo String Quartet
(Mirei Yamada, Aldo Campagnari, Danusha Waskiewicz, Francesco Dillon)

Three composers will be competitively selected

APPLICATION MATERIALS

Applicants must submit:

• short biography or CV (Italian or English)
• at least two scores of previous compositions (PDF)
• links to recordings (if available – no audio/video files)
• one original, unpublished string quartet score (PDF)

The submitted quartet must:
• be complete
• not exceed 8 minutes
• not include electronics
• not have received a public concert performance (readings/workshops allowed)

Selected composers must attend the residency in person.

RESIDENCY & PERFORMANCE

The residency will take place at Fattoria Quercia (Valsamoggia, Italy).
Working language: Italian and English.

The selected works will be rehearsed during the residency and performed in a public concert on 12 June 2026 at Castello di Serravalle as part of the “Corti, Chiese e Cortili” festival.

RIGHTS

Composers retain full ownership of their works.
Audio and video recordings of the concert may be used by the organizers for documentation and promotion. By applying to the call, composers grant the organizers permission to publicly perform the selected works during the concert on 12 June 2026. No other performance or reproduction rights are transferred.
