EXTENSIO
Masterclass in improvisation, timbral research and acoustic–electronic interaction with Michele Rabbia
6–8 November 2026
Chiesa di San Filippo, Corso Garibaldi 144, Fossombrone (PU), Italy
Organised by LIMS – Laboratorio di Improvvisazione e Musica Sperimentale (Laboratory of Improvisation and Experimental Music)
THE MASTERCLASS
LIMS presents EXTENSIO, a three-day intensive atelier led by Michele Rabbia. Through exercises, guided listening and individual and collective experimentation, participants will explore the outer limits of their instruments, timbre as a field of research, the dialogue between acoustic and electronic sound, and the ways in which musical form takes shape in real time through collective improvisation.
Every musical language is a point of departure, every act of listening a threshold. The boundaries we will discover together, in the instant of collective improvisation.
WHO CAN APPLY
The masterclass is open to musicians of every genre, training and level of experience, whatever their musical language, background or instrumental practice. It will be of particular interest to performers working in free improvisation, electronic and electroacoustic music, contemporary music and jazz.
