IAM CoCompose 2026–2027: Call for Young Polish Composers

The Adam Mickiewicz Institute (IAM) has launched IAM CoCompose, a new international development programme for Polish composers aged up to 35. The 2026–2027 edition focuses on Polish Textile Art, exploring the creative dialogue between contemporary music and Poland’s rich textile-art heritage. Four composers will be selected to participate.

Theme of the First Edition: What Does Polish Textile Art Sound Like?

IAM CoCompose invites emerging composers to engage with Polish textile art not as a subject to illustrate, but as a source of artistic inspiration and creative exchange. The programme encourages participants to explore the parallels between musical composition and textile composition—both built from structures, patterns, contrasts, repetitions, and variations.

Selected composers will be supported through expert-led meetings, consultations, and opportunities to experience textile art as a creative medium. The goal is to develop new musical works inspired by Polish fibre and textile art and to present them internationally. 

What Does the Programme Offer?

Participants will receive:

• Collaboration with one of the following renowned international ensembles:
  • London Sinfonietta (UK)
  • Ensemble des Équilibres (France)
  • Ensemble 2e2m (France)
  • The Choir of King’s College London (UK)
• A commission fee of PLN 12,000 gross
• An international premiere performance in 2027
• Comprehensive artistic support throughout the creative process, including expert consultations on Polish textile art and related themes. 

Eligibility and Application

Applications are open until 31 July 2026 (23:59 CEST). Candidates are required to submit:

• A short biography
• Three scores (recordings optional)
• A concept proposal for a new composition related to the programme theme (in both Polish and English), including a preferred ensemble choice. 

Results will be announced by 20 August 2026.
