* This residency is open to French artists with official French artist status, or to artists who have been living and working in France for at least three years and hold an official artist numberTo encourage exchange in the field of immersive and experimental music, the French Institute in Latvia in collaboration with Dirty Deal Audio, is launching an immersive audio residency program to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Institute in Latvia.
This residency is dedicated to French contemporary music composers, sound artists, producers, sound designers, or other professionals with previous experience in spatial sound creation. Priority will be given to candidates with knowledge and experience in work with ambisonic spatial sound format.

Residency duration: 10 to 14 Days
Residency Period: June 1 – 14 or July 6 – 19 2026
Location: Laidi Palace Residency, Laidi, Latvia.

The form requests: contact information (name and surname, date of birth, country of residence, email, mob. phone nr.); Official French artist status Nr. (n° de SIRET, d’affiliation URSSAF, autre);
short biography; CV; portfolio including examples of immersive sound related works: compositions, performances, installation, sound sculpture etc; links to website and artistic social media; a motivation letter explaining why the participant is interested in taking part; description of the intended outcomes of this immersive music residency.
Applications will be reviewed by a jury composed of representatives from Dirty Deal Audio and the French Institute of Latvia. The results of this artistic residency call will be announced on November 3, 2025. The selected artist must confirm participation within five days after receiving notification.
The French Institute in Latvia and Dirty Deal Audio cover:
- Hospitality in Laidi palace artist residency;
- Immersive audio studio and support staff;
- Promotion of the artist (communication opportunities about the artist’s work, media outreach);
- Organizing an event for the final work presentation event at Laidi Palace at the end of artists residency period;
- Recreational program and discovery visits around Laidi, Kuldiga, Aizpute and other nearest villages, as well as to artistic and cultural institutions in Latvia;
Commitment of the artist:
- Must cover their own travel and food expenses;
- During the residency, the artist must create 40-45 min. immersive audio work (related to composition and/or installation), and grant Dirty Deal Audio the rights to its free use in 2027 during public immersive music sessions organized by the French Institute of Latvia as part of the celebration of the 30th anniversary of the Institute.
- Showcase the sound work at the end of the residency at Laidi Palace, DDA studio;
- Artist must bring their own musical instruments, computers, and other necessary equipment for creative work;
- Artist must be able to work on his own;
- Artists must follow the residency's internal regulations and take responsibility for the studio equipment provided.
Hospitality and studio
Dirty Deal Audio studio is equipped with 17+2 speaker sound system (Genelec 8100, Genelec 7050C + Yamaha HS10W), RME Digiface USB audio interface with 32 audio signal inputs, 3 Slate ML2 microphones with stands for acoustic instrument and vocal recordings, 3dio Binaural Microphone and Zoom VR-H3. The participant will be provided with a private room and access to a shared kitchenette on the second floor of the palace. Rooms are equipped with a desk, a resting area, and a bed (no shower in room). A small grocery store is a three-minute walk from the palace. The first floor of the residency includes co-working and lounge spaces with Wi-Fi. Shared showers are located in the basement. Laidi Palace Residency is surrounded by a historic park with a vast 14-hectare wild park area where you can have a walk.
