Program fee: €450.00
Portuguese composers (or those residing in Portugal) are eligible to apply for a grant ranging from €50.00 to €200.00. The grant applicants must include a motivation letter (maximum 3000 characters) in the application form.

Projecto DME announces a new edition of the International Summer School for Composers in collaboration with  Ensemble DME (Alex Waite – piano, Beatriz Costa – violin, Carlos Silva – clarinet, and Mafalda Carvalho – flute) with or without electronics (stereo). The works may be performed with or without a conductor.

The event will take place in Seia, Portugal, from August 3rd to 8th, 2026. Composers of all ages and nationalities are welcome to apply.

This year’s composition tutors will be Jaime Reis (Portugal) and Valerio Sannicandro (Italy).

Application deadline: May 14, 2026

Each selected participant will have the following opportunities:

  • Individual lessons with composer Jaime Reis and Valerio Sannicandro
  • Rehearsals with the musicians of Ensemble DME
  • Audio and video recording of the works presented at the final concert

At the final concert, participants may present either existing works or new compositions. In the case of new works, the corresponding scores must be submitted by July 10, 2026.

The proposed piece(s) do not have to be for the full ensemble.

Please note that if you submit more than one piece, only one will be selected.

Program fee: €450.00
The program fee is non-refundable.

Projecto DME will provide:

  • Accommodation in shared twin rooms from August 3rd to 8th
  • Lunch during the days of the event (August 3rd to 8th)
