KLEXOSLAB
The 9th KlexosLab New Music Festival will take place in Plasencia (Cáceres, Spain) from July 20 to 25, 2025. As part of the festival, a composition course will be held in which active participants will work alongside the invited ensembles to develop their creative potential. The process will culminate in the performance of their works in one of the festival’s concerts.
Composition Workshop
During the festival, a composition workshop will take place. Participants will work on pieces or movements for one of the following ensembles:
-Klexos (4 sax + multimedia artist/performer)
-Vicente Moronta (oboe)
-Nemø Ensemble (fl., vlc., pno./keys and perc.)
Active participants will compose up to 6 minutes of music, which will be premiered during the festival concert on July 25 at 8:00 PM at the San Francisco Auditorium in Plasencia.

Application Process
Students wishing to register for the workshop can find further information and apply via the website www.klexoslab.es, where they will be asked to submit the following documentation, which will be considered for evaluation:
-A short CV
-A fragment, sketch, and/or description of the compositional idea to be developed during the workshop (including instrumentation, technical/material requirements, and estimated duration)
-A recording and/or score of their own work
Application deadline: May 1st, 2026 (11:59 PM Spanish time, UTC+1). Submission is free of charge.
Selected participants will be announced by May 3rd, 2026, on Klexos and KlexosLab’s website and social media.
Enrollment deadline for selected participants: May 10th, 2026.
Once the list of selected participants is published, they must confirm their attendance and complete the registration fee payment via the bank account provided by the organization.
Workshop Phases
Phase 1 (June - Online)
Introductory session and brainstorming.
Presentation of sketches.
Phase 2 (In-Person)
Reading sessions with ensembles (at least two 45-minute sessions).
Work on the pieces for their premiere.
Group classes and mentorship with Matthew Shlomowitz and Pedro González.
Free participation in festival activities.

SCHEDULE
The festival and composition workshop will take place from July 20th to 25th, 2026, in Plasencia (Cáceres, Spain).
JULY 20th | 12:00 PM
Student reception and welcome ceremony at San Francisco Auditorium (C. de San Marcos, 8, 10600 Plasencia, Cáceres).
JULY 20th – 24th
Classes, workshops, reading sessions, and concerts.
JULY 25th | 8:00 PM
Final concert featuring premieres of works by workshop participants at San Francisco Auditorium, Plasencia.
ADMISSIONS
The selection criteria will take into account the composer’s artistic trajectory and their affinity with the festival’s aesthetic. Instrumentation is open, provided that the work can be performed by Klexos, Vicente Moronta, or Nemø Ensemble. Accordingly, solo, duo, trio, quartet, or quintet works will be accepted and considered, with or without multimedia or performative elements.
