Roadrunner Academy

Roadrunner Academy is an annual one-week event where (emerging) composers get a chance to write for and work with Roadrunner. Edition six takes place from February 23-March 1 2026, in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, During daily workshops the composers get to work with the ensemble and the composer in residence. Ideas can be shared with peers, one can try out new concepts and learn more about the instruments and different musical approaches. We present the finalized pieces in a public concert at the end of the week in the Uilenburgersjoel, including a performance recording.

Roadrunner distinguishes itself from other contemporary music ensembles by also involving folk music, improvisation and arranging existing music in our concerts. We want to challenge the participants to include these elements in their scores, rather than focus on academic new music only.
