CALL FOR WORKS: FIXED/LIVE ELECTRONICS 

Concept

SEGNALI is an international festival dedicated to audiovisual works and live performance. The mission of SEGNALI is to provide local and regional audiences with an opportunity to experience a wide variety of contemporary experimental works, focusing on artistic excellence across different styles, forms, and nationalities. Since 2010, SEGNALI has offered a diverse program featuring audiovisual works, installations, live electronics, acousmatic music, live soundtracks, and performances. The festival is organized and hosted by the ‘Francesco Morlacchi’ Conservatory of Music in Perugia.

 

Competition

For the 2026 edition, the SEGNALI Festival, in collaboration with GRA Ambiente (Città di Castello - PG) is pleased to announce its new Composition Competition, open to two

categories: Fixed Media (pre-recorded audio or audio/video) and Live Electronics Performance (audio or audio/video). The registration fee is €15 to be paid to the ‘Francesco Morlacchi’ Conservatory of Music by bank transfer using the following reason for payment: “Segnali 2026 Competition Participation”.

There are no restrictions regarding the artist’s age, aesthetic approach, or nationality.

  • ●  Fixed Media
    This category is open to acousmatic works (audio-only) or audiovisual works (audio/ video) with a maximum duration of 12 minutes. Audio formats may range from 2.0 to 5.1 surround sound. Video submissions must feature a single HD projection (1920x1080). Although the author's presence at the performance is encouraged, it is not mandatory.
  • ●  Live Electronics
    This category is open to live electronics performances (solo live electronics, instrument(s) and/or performer(s) + live electronics, laptop ensembles, live coding, etc.) with or without a video component (single HD projection 1920x1080). The

maximum duration is 12 minutes. Audio formats may range from 2.0 to 5.1 surround sound. The physical presence of the author and all involved performers (at the authors’s expense) is mandatory for the performance.

 

How to Participate

Each work — individual or collective — must be submitted by the author (or one of the co- authors), who will serve as the sole point of contact for all subsequent stages of the contest.

All participants must submit the following materials:

  • ●  Curriculum Vitae.
  • ●  An artistic statement (max. 500 words).
  • ●  A short description of the submitted work.
  • ●  A link to the work hosted on an audio or video streaming platform (Soundcloud,

    Vimeo, YouTube, etc.).

  • ●  Proof of payment.

Send all materials to callsegnali@conservatorioperugia.it with the subject line: “Segnali 2026 Competition Participation”.

The application must be submitted no later than July 31, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. CET.

Submitting an application implies full acceptance of these regulations. By participating, artists authorize the SEGNALI Festival to use selected works for educational, research, and promotional purposes, including contexts outside the festival; any commercial use is strictly excluded.

 

Evaluation Criteria and Prizes

Winners will be selected by the Artistic Board and will receive the following awards, offered by GRA Ambiente:

Fixed Media Category:

  1. €500 and an award plaque.
  2. €300 and an award plaque.
  3. €200 and an award plaque.

Live Electronics Category:

  1. €500 and an award plaque.
  2. €300 and an award plaque.
  3. €200 and an award plaque.

The jury reserves the right not to award all prizes and/or to grant up to two Honorable Mentions. Winning works will be performed and prizes awarded during the opening concert

of the SEGNALI Festival 2026 (October 7, 2026, Perugia, Italy). Only selected works will be included in the festival program.

Selection Criteria:

  • ●  Consistency with the festival concept.
  • ●  Originality and communicative effectiveness within the chosen artistic language.
  • ●  Creative use of technologies, tools, and media devices.

    The shortlist of selected works will be published by September 1, 2026, on the SEGNALI Festival website. Selected artists must provide performance files via WeTransfer, Dropbox, or similar services to callsegnali@conservatorioperugia.it no later than September 15, 2026.

     

    Technical Requirements for Final Submission

  • ●  Fixed Media:
    • ○  Audio Codec: PCM 24-bit 48 kHz or AAC.
    • ○  Audio Channels: 2.0 to 5.1.
    • ○  Container: MOV, MP4, or MKV for audio/video; WAV o AIFF for audio-only.
    • ○  Video Codec: H.264 or Apple ProRes 422.
    • ○  Resolution: 1920 x 1080 (Full HD).
    • ○  Program notes / Presentation text of the work.
  • ●  Live Electronics:
    • ○  Technical Rider specifying all stage and equipment requirements.
    • ○  Program notes / Presentation text of the work.
    • ○  Full names of all involved performers.

       

      Important Dates

  • ●  July 31, 2026 (11:59 PM CET): Deadline for submission.
  • ●  September 1, 2026: Notification of selected works.
  • ●  September 15, 2026: Deadline for final submission (files for the performance).
  • ●  October 7, 2026: Performance and Award Ceremony.

    Privacy and Accountability

    By participating, candidates grant unconditional consent for the processing of personal data for all event-related initiatives, pursuant to Italian Legislative Decree 196/2003 and the GDPR (EU Regulation 2016/679). Participants declare they hold the legal rights to the work and authorize its public screening without compensation, indemnifying the organization and the host venues from any present or future liability.
