V ARTSOM Musical Composition Competition

MOSTRA SONORA SUECA announces the V ARTSOM Musical Composition Competition, offering composers the opportunity to create a new work for premiere at the 23rd Mostra Sonora Sueca Festival in May 2027.

The competition is open to composers of all nationalities and ages. Participants must submit an artistic proposal, curriculum vitae, and two anonymous chamber music works for evaluation. The winning composer will receive a €1,400 commission for the creation of an original piece of 7 to 12 minutes for Pierrot ensemble (soprano, flute, clarinet, violin, cello, and piano), to be performed by ars ad hoc (ensembe) with Ana Caseiro (soprano).

The selected composer will have the chance to collaborate directly with the ensemble through online and in-person rehearsal sessions prior to the premiere. Audiovisual elements and new technologies may be incorporated into the work, subject to approval by the ensemble and festival organizers.

Key Dates:

• Application deadline: 22 November 2026
• Winner announcement: Before 22 December 2026
• Final score delivery: No later than 16 April 2027
• World premiere: During the 23rd Mostra Sonora Sueca (27-30 May 2027)
