Sarah Beth Overcash
Violinist Sarah Beth Overcash was born in Memphis, Tennessee (USA). She started taking violin lessons when she was 4 years old from Ray Cheng, who also made her violin. Sarah Beth is currently working on a Masters degree from International Ensemble Modern Academy by Hoschule for Musik und Darnstellende Kunst Frankfurt. She completed her Masters degree in Violin Performance at University of Southern California where she studied with Glenn Dicterow. While at USC, Sarah Beth was a member of the Thornton Edge Ensemble.
During her undergraduate studies, she was awarded the Louis and Annette Kaufman Music Achievement Award in Violin from Oberlin Conservatory of Music where she studied with Dr. David Bowlin. In Oberlin, she served as a co-founder and co-chair of the Oberlin Students for Gender Inclusivity in Music’s board of directors. In 2019, she was honored to be part of the OSGIM Phlox Ensemble project. This project included works by trans, female, and nonbinary identifying composers.
Sarah Beth has attended several music festivals including Into the Open Festival, Impuls Graz, Gaudeamus Festival, Spoleto Music Festival(Charleston, South Carolina, USA), Music Academy of the West, and Lucerne Festival Academy among others. She recently played in projects with Santa Barbara Symphony, Ensemble Modern, Soloistenensemble Kaleidoskop, and Ensemble Reflektor. In her free time, Sarah Beth enjoys improvising with friends as well as traveling and cooking.
Supported by the ULYSSES Platform, Sarah Beth was a member of the IEMA Ensemble 2024/25, performing at both impuls and Gaudeamus in 2025.
