Time of Music presents the world premiere of Lauri Supponen’s piece southwest, written for Continuum XXI, a ULYSSES Platform emerging ensemble. The work is a co-commission by Time of Music, Mixtur Festival in Barcelona, and the Estonian Centre for Contemporary Music.
Lauri Supponen’s work happens at the intersection of music, dance, visual art and theatre, nurturing the playfulness and creation that happen in between structures. Hailing from Helsinki, Supponen grew up in Brussels and studied composition in London, Berlin and Helsinki. Lauri works in collaboration with musicians, dancers, dramaturges, visual artists and other composers. Lauri’s works have been premiered by Ensemble Intercontemporain, Ensemble Modern and BBC Singers at leading European contemporary music festivals. Lauri’s work has been supported by Kone Foundation and Finnish Cultural Foundation. Lauri plays the oboe and contrabass and has performed with ainoregina and Korvat Auki Ensemble at Flow festival, amongst others.
