There could hardly be a more fitting setting than the Museu de la Música de Barcelona for Continuum XXI’s concert. The ensemble proposes a vibrant dialogue between early music and contemporary creation, bringing historical instruments back to life as tools for exploring new sonic possibilities. At Mixtur Festival 2026, Continuum XXI presents a programme spanning centuries of music, leading us from the Baroque to the present day through works by Handel, Monteverdi, Ligeti, José María Sánchez-Verdú, and the premiere of a new work by Finnish composer Lauri Supponen, co-commissioned by Mixtur, Time of Music Festival and the Estonian Centre of Contemporary Music under the framework of the ULYSSES Platform.

About Continuum XXI:

To create new repertoire for historical instruments. To understand tradition and move towards the avant-garde. To work with current composers and artists from other disciplines. To rediscover historical instruments and push them to their limits. To question and understand the current human being in all its facets. These are some of the goals when Continuum XXI makes early and contemporary music. Continuum XXI has won important prizes and scholarships, including Podium Gegenwart and #MusikerZukunft.The ensemble has published a CD in the label NEOS.
