A Journey of Artistic Discovery Across Europe
EMERGING ENSEMBLE: EAR TO THE EARTH

Organised by Gaudeamus, Netherlands
The Hague-based sextet Ear to the Earth Ensemble present their programme Verwilderd, based on the idea of ‘rewilding’: reintroducing wilderness and letting nature take its course again in areas constructed or influenced by humans. In this performance, the ensemble guides the audience as they participate in audibly ‘rewilding’ Stadsklooster Utrecht: with musicians performing around the space, on a man-made tree of found objects, and witnessing through music the sensation of slow natural growth over our urban façades.
In our modern era of increasing distance from nature, Ear to the Earth takes a dive into ecosystems which we cannot always see or hear without some imagination. The merging of text, electronics, movement, spatial performance and improvisation with the audience turns each performance into a one-of-a-kind experience, where listening becomes a tool in discovery and reconnection — with each other and our natural world.
