A Journey of Artistic Discovery Across Europe
ULYSSES JOURNEY FOR COMPOSERS

Organised by Ultima, Norway
Sustainable Composing: Creative seminar and sound installations
Ultima presents a three-day course in Oslo focused on sound practices grounded in sustainable and environmentally-conscious perspectives. Through talks, workshops, conversations, installations, social gatherings, and a forest walk in Østmarka, the course explores how sound art and composition can raise ecological awareness and inspire practices of care, responsibility, and collaboration.
Contributors include Afrorack (Brian Bamanya), Margrethe Pettersen, Jessie Cox, Espen Hjort, Luis Fernando Amaya, The Black Astral (Natalie Hyacinth), Frazer Merrick, and Giuseppe Pisano. Three spots are reserved for composers as part of their ULYSSES Journey.
The course is part of the year-long programme Sustainable Composing & Creative Sound Practices, a collaboration between Ultima, Nordic Music Days, and Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival, supported by Arts Council England, the Danish Arts Foundation, and Arts Council Norway. It is connected with the online session that took place in April of this year: Remote Connections: Co-Creating Across Distances.
