ULYSSES JOURNEYS FOR COMPOSERS & PERFOMERS

Organised by HfMT, Germany
Hamburg Contemporary
MONEY DOUGH
International Academy “Kontemporär” and Days of Contemporary Music at the HfMT Hamburg
From September 26 to 28, 2025, the HfMT will be entirely dedicated to contemporary music: Hamburg Contemporarypresents three outstanding concerts that open up new sound worlds. At the heart of the festival is the collaboration with members of the renowned ensemble LUX:NM, which, as Ensemble in Residence, will work intensively with young musicians to develop new works, alongside the RADAR Quartet.
A special focus of the Academy Kontemporär, which begins on September 22, will be the collaboration with Visiting Composer Philipp Maintz, who will lead a masterclass with the Academy’s fellows.
This year’s thematic framework, “MONEY DOUGH,” addresses a pressing issue: in the face of increasing cuts to cultural funding, Hamburg Contemporary seeks to send a strong musical message – loud, alert, and impossible to ignore. Art is not a luxury, but a necessity. Let us make music as if it were the last concert – so that many more can follow.
In 2025, 6 spots are reserved for Ulysses-supported young artists.
