A Journey of Artistic Discovery Across Europe
ULYSSES JOURNEYS FOR CONDUCTORS
Organised by Divertimento Ensemble, Italy
Divertimento’s Orchestra Conducting Course retraces the strategies used in the preparation of a public concert.
After a first day dedicated to the analysis of the scores, interpretative indications and technical conventions in the relationships with the ensemble, rehearsals are organised as in a normal concert production.
The admitted students take turns on the podium and collaborate together in the concertation of the program. The teacher coordinates and directs the interpretation, intervening, when necessary, on technical problems.
Each student uses the rehearsals of the other students, the indications of the teacher and the suggestions of the composer present as a tutor to achieve the objective.
With very few exceptions, all students will conduct at least one piece of the study repertoire in one of the five public concerts scheduled in Moncalvo and Milano, having a part of the dress rehearsal available to define their own personal interpretative indications.
In 2026, one emerging conductor will be selected to attend the course as part of their ULYSSES Journey.
