Organised by Rupert, Lithuania

In August, multimedia artist Nazanin Noori (1991 Germany, based in Berlin) spends a month in residence at Rupert, to begin development of a new commission for presentation in 2026. During the residency, Nazanin conducts initial research into a new work, meeting local choirs and investigating the singing traditions in the Baltic region, as a first step in their longer-term collaboration with Rupert.

Formally trained in theater, film and media studies, Nazanin Noori addresses the merging of sound, space, sculpture and post-dramatic poetry, focusing on atmospheric narratives. Primarily delving into the Ambient Hardcore realm, her hypnoacoustic compositions extend into Doom Electronics.

Since 2016, Noori has been working with compositions for theater and art film. Her debut album 'FARCE', published on the enmossed label in 2020, was followed by her 54-minute sound piece 'HAAL', which premiered in 2021 at the Berliner Festspiele exhibition 'The Sun Machine Is Coming Down'.

Recent solo exhibitions include ‘The Echo of Protest is Distant to the Protest’ at Auto Italia, London UK and CCA Berlin, Germany. She has staged performances at Martin-Gropius-Bau, Villa Massimo, Berghain, Schirn Kunsthalle, Schauspielhaus Zürich, La Gaîté Lyrique, CTM Festival and ICA London. Her theatre works were staged at Maxim Gorki Theater, Deutsches Theater and Berliner Ensemble. Her sound scenarios have been presented in international radio stations, such as Mutant Radio, Deep House Tehran and Refuge Worldwide, where she holds a residency since 2021. She has also participated in residencies at Junge Akademie der Künste and Callie's.

Nazanin is the recipient of the 2026 Ars Viva Prize for Visual Arts.
