EMERGING ENSEMBLE: CONTINUUM XXI AT TIME OF MUSIC
Organised by Time Of Music, Finland
Cartography of Avantgarde
In the early years of Time of Music Festival, Renaissance and Baroque music was often combined in concerts with the experimental new music of our time.
German-Spanish ensemble Continuum XXI, performing on Baroque instruments, has become known for combining works from the Baroque period with new compositions. In this concert, we hear the world premiere of Lauri Supponen’s piece southwest, written for Continuum XXI. The work is a co-commission by Time of Music, Mixtur Festival in Barcelona, and the Estonian Centre for Contemporary Music in the context of the ULYSSES Platform.
The programme also features music by several composers including Händel, Scelsi, Ligeti, Arroyo, and Monteverdi. There will be improvised sections by the performers between the works.
