A Journey of Artistic Discovery Across Europe

ULYSSES JOURNEYS FOR PERFORMERS

Kalle Hakosalo
Kalle Hakosalo

Organised by Gaudeamus, Netherlands

In Yrttitarha, a concert installation composed by Gaudeamus Award 2026 nominee Tytti Arola, percussionist Kalle Hakosalo tends to a herb-garden built on the stage, using and taking pleasure from the garden’s commodities. The piece aims to research and compare various definitions of growth – the ambiance of the performance varies from intimate to industrially hectic. The audience is invited to ponder their own personal ways of communicating with other humans and species, as well as about the balance between taking care of oneself and of the people and world around you.

Kalle Hakosalo is a percussionist, musician, performer, composer and educator based in Copenhagen. He blends different genres of music and forms of art, particularly focusing on making contemporary and “classical” music more accessible to the general public, and thrives in co-collaborative artistic settings.
